    Tréca’s history thus began in 1935 in Reichshoffen, getting its name from the company TREfilerie-Cablerie. Mr Moritz was the one who invented the mattress and bed base market in France. Tréca was the only brand to sell spring mattresses in France...

    Right in the middle of World War II, Victor Moritz decided to found a fallback plant: the Beaugency plant. During that period, it produced mattresses for the French Army medical service.

    In 1947, Victor Moritz decided to purchase the Pullman licence that would then equip the seats of those famous Pullman wagons.

    1955

    Tréca designed bedding sets (mattresses, bed bases, headboards) for many different customers. At the same time, it supplied the automobile sector with seats for Citroën, including the emblematic DS and ID models.

    1957

    A new plant in Bourg-de-Thizy. This new plant was a real showcase as the most modern in high-end bed production. The Beaugency plant was visited by General de Gaulle.

    1960

    Tréca created Tréca de Paris, the brand’s European export subsidiary which began its internationalisation. Tréca thus became the 1st exporter in its field.

    1961

    CAD (Lying Down Sitting Relaxed) was born. Along with Colette Marchand, Jacques Chazot introduced this “debutante” in 1961 to the public during a major event at the Olympia where Edith Piaf performed for the second half!

    Tréca equipped SNCF trains and the major French automobile brands with seats.

    1982

    Tréca invented the sleep table. Taking into account the weight and size of each sleeper, the brand suggested choosing a model based on one’s individual morphology.

    Tréca re-affirmed its artisan view of manufacturing by adopting a new signature feature: hand-sewn sleep.

    Tréca celebrated its 75th anniversary and launched a limited edition bed with Harcourt “Once upon tomorrow...”.

    Tréca re-affirmed its “haute-couture” position and joined forces with renowned lingerie creator Chantal Thomass. A mattress, headboard and feet set was created out of this collaboration.

    Backed by its success in 2011, Tréca again partnered with Chantal Thomass to add the Art of Sensuality to the bedroom as a “place for seduction”.

    2018

    Tréca launched its ‘Ceilings Seen by Tréca’ campaign, starting the saga at the Palais Garnier and then the Grand Palais. The brand offered consumers the chance to discover the most beautiful Parisians with a new perspective and in the best conditions from a Tréca mattress.

    Tréca wanted to take a turn with “Bedroom Art” and partnered with Mr Christian Lacroix, who is known in France and throughout the world for his audacity and charisma as a French designer. He designed a headboard, a fabric motif and mattress ticking for Tréca.

    Tréca partnered with the name in Parisian decoration: Maison Sarah Lavoine with which it designed a set featuring bedding, a night table and particularly a headboard in a “Sarah” blue which later evolved into other colours.
